The Republic of Mikonia Description:
Mikonia is a nation that mostly exists in the Southwest Archipelago, and is an Authoritarian Nation in itself. The nation, while extremely nationalist, also engages in trade with several other countries.
Statistics:
Mikonia currently holds the spot of the fourth most powerful military in the Archipelago. The economy is very stable, even during wartime. The nation is also rich in resources, like oil, precious minerals, and even precious metals. The nation also carries a POM of 9 due to the war recently won.
History:
Before 1912, there were many small independent nations in the Southwest archipelago constantly fighting each other. Eventually, the small nation of Aberisnia proposed a solution, as so many of the people were tired of war. The ideology of MikSoc was founded to help all people of the Southwest Archipelago.
In 1912, the Papers of Federation were signed in New London, marking the beginning of Mikonia. As more of the small, warring states joined, the nation became stronger. James Crenley, also known as "The Father of Mikonia" was the leader for the time until 1920.
In 1920, he discovered all of the horrible things that the MikSoc Party was doing to Mikonia and tried to stop it, only to be assassinated by his own guards. The citizens were not notified of his death, as he stopped making appearances in public, with the leader now being the "Speaker for the Father".
In 1935, after fear of Mikonia being too powerful spread, the Mikonian War began, lasting 6 months. The country crumbled as citizens discovered and fought against the MikSoc soldiers, many of which deserted the army. After the war, New Ireland inserted one of these "fighters" as the leader of the newly founded Republic of Mikonia. This man being Prime Minister Winston Sparrow, whom became known throughout Mikonia and the greater Archipelago as a brutalist dictator. He put down anyone opposing him with various bills.
In May of 1939, the Williamtown Coalition was founded as an open rebellion to Sparrow's dictatorship, however by September 1st, 1939, the Coalition was surrendered to Sparrow, the leaders of the Coalition were gibbeted in the Main Square of Williamtown, and a statue of Sparrow was erected nearby. The rebellion did not stop, because by July of 1940, the people rose up once more in the Mikonian Revolution, which ended with Sparrow's death by guillotine.
In 1940, the Republic of Mikonia was refounded under William Kent, a kind and polite older politician, who had helped the leaders of the Williamtown Coalition. There was still a major famine in Mikonia though, and food shipments were arriving from New Ireland as a "Goodwill Mission", however, it is now known that it was done to control Mikonia. In May of 1941, the famine was over, and the Mikonian people were finally able to have enough food without "Assistance" from New Ireland, however, food shipments arrived until December of 1941, as of the request of New Ireland.
In 1942, the Invasion of Mikonia began with the supposed attack of a freighter ship bringing food shipments to Mikonia. Both New Nanaka and New Ireland invaded Mikonia in what is known as the Fear of Power. This will be tried in MUPP Court soon.
